What about "I ♥ Camberwell Commerce"?

Or "A Camberwell haircut is good enough for visitors - honk if you agree" (as the Camberweller is typically viewed from behind a steering wheel when about town).

There was a shop in Carnaby St that did q nice t-shirts with college style lettering saying Camden, Brixton, Peckham etc. I think they had a Camberwell one. They looked quite natty and so I'd buy one now, but at the time I was living in East Dulwich, which doesn't have quite the same ring...

Indeed I would. The People's Republic of Camberwell has a nice ring to it. Glad to see some of the true voices of a equal society are speaking out here. Liliana, if all of us could just stand up and be counted we would see the cause take a giant leap forward.

Now is the time comrades!

How about a t-shirt with "The People's Republic of Camberwell" on the chest in very small writing.

Less is more...

In the past 48 hours I've spotted two different individuals wearing what, at least to my untutored-in-fashion eyes, seemed quite stylish T-shirts emblazoned with a 'Peckham-based' logo.

In the past 5 years I have never once spotted anyone wearing a T-shirt (or any shirt for that matter) with any mention of Camberwell on it...

So, what would you feature on a T-shirt to big-up Camberwell (and look cool at the same time)?

My design pitch would be a relaxed looking butterfly nibbling a 'carrot' (sure you all get that one...)

@Gnomee - you make some very valid points and I have alot of empathy with your comments about the struggle to keep the mortgage payments going to keep the roof over your head. Living in inner London is not cheap and most people don't qualify for social housing nowadays. I got my flat as a hard-to-let. Don't think that category exists anymore (right-to-buy killed that off).
Southwark is never going to meet the Decent Homes deadline and by 2010, the Tories will be back in and the standard is likely to be scrapped.

Social housing standards are higher then those in the private sector, So you should feel sorry for those who have bought or privately rent and rescue them from pig pens ( tied mortgages, negative equity and non returned deposits) The Decent Homes standards implemented by the Labour Government has set criteria to meet and all social housing is meant to meet the standard by 2010.
Social Landlords have refused to buy into new apartment blocks that do not meet their own standards. Example St George's at Vauxhall while the housing association flats overlook the bus station and not the river the interior quality is better. Kitchens have to last 12 years and central heating 10.

Perhaps we could all take a breath and realise that my reference to pigpen was not a reflection of its inhabitance and state of care, rather the attitude of the Government in terms of what the poor deserve - a poorly designed cage hardly good enough for an animal, much less a human. That many have taken these and created wonderful homes is testament their spirit.

Mushtimushta, you are among those I count who is working for the cause. This blog is packed full of regular posters who represent what the SWP fights for. The working people, the poor, those exploited by the inequalities of our warped wealth distribution. You recognise that Labour and even the Lib Dems aren't left enough. Camberwell Comrades are one of our last bastions of hope.

So if I mis-spoke and caused offence, I apologise. Do not let it cloud your judgement of the fight before us.
